As the day fell
in forever
and the fog
began to clear

I drove down to the beach
so I could find a way
to have you

near

I’m not sure why
I did it
It was totally
Unplanned

But then maybe it
wasn’t,
I don’t think I
fully
understand

Perhaps I had the need
to feel
the grains of time
beneath my feet

And wonder if you
felt it too
where deep blue and
your shoreline meet

Each step was eons closer
to the reasons
of my love,
for you

Each moment was
a silent vow
that someday
we could both renew

Your essence is the canyon
that your beauty carves
into my sky

Where rivers throb
into the sea
and closeness,
never says,

goodbye

I had to know
how sweet the breeze
was,
dancing in the air

And just how
I would hold you
as it flowed throughout
your
silky hair

Holding hands
against the backdrop
of a drowning sun

Across the threshold
of the night
our love would
soon become

I saw the moon above
and wondered
If you saw it too

The glow is the
reflection
of the love
I have for you

You are the swells
within my eyes
the ocean in my
tear

Your lips are like
two secrets
that my heart
just has to hear

I drove down to the ocean
And I really
don’t know why

I think that I will
stay the night

And kiss

your ocean sky

Freedom of expression is our, write.

Thank you Bluesy, but actually it's getting pretty cool out here. You wouldn't happen to know how to start a fire with two sticks now would you?

(note to self: next time, bring blanket)

I'm big on imagery when it comes to poetry and this one has it all. You evoke such a powerful visual with this work. I can see myself standing on that shore just as vividly as I can "see" the feelings that your words suggest. I would love to know that feeling again and reading this poem gives this sappy romantic hope lol. Well done!!  I like this one A LOT - J
