Lumpy oatmeal makes me crazy!

0 posted 2008-05-07 04:40 PM

The sun is morning cool
when I see a fox cross the road
with food for waiting kits.

I anticipate the day that
I will see the complete family,
children hurrying after their mother.
And I always hope
that they don’t run into a car.

Every spring, I see the fox.
I look for them.
I watch the babies grow.

When I walk by the cut bank, I know
not to stick my arm in holes
that seem empty.
As a child, I would have wanted
to hide treasures in them.

Now, I know the treasures
are already there,

hidden.

This is so "Alison" and I love it. I feel bad for the wildlife in this area. There is so little understanding or concern for the animals we are displacing.

Yo dear Alison,

This is very nice.

It's always a good rule to keep your hands out of Fox holes, and the holes of other animals.  I'm sure you know that.

Here in Pennsylvania Fox are sometimes rabid.

Lovely tale of a poem.  I liked the way you showed a growth into maturity.

It's a great nature moment, to watch those fast foxes run through horse pastures, then disappear into the woods. A bushy-tailed red mother fox has such a mysterious air about her!
