Morning again.
Another day...

Day after day.
They keep coming at me
like toy soldiers,
marching one after the other
up to the brink
of a temporary reality
and then falling over the edge
into forever.
Today following yesterday
into tomorrow
until there are no tomorrows left.

Yo Ida,

That's the way it is Hon.  Time marches on.  This is kind of a cute little number.

This is a powerful poem, Ida---the brink of a "temporary" reality at the edge of "eternity"!--- the idea of falling off into the forever of whatever, really deepens the insight this poem brings. Great work!

"Today following yesterday
into tomorrow
until there are no tomorrows left."  I can empathiz.  Sometimes the routine becomes too much like life has hit the replay button and won't move forward.  Each day just a repetition.  Your words were so much more profound than mine and the analogy with the soldiers was perfect.

Thank you all so much for your comments. Today is a gloomy day here. Maybe thats where this one came from.

I so enjoyed you're interpretation of time Ida. Kind of sad in some ways, how you only have so many day soldiers that are walking out the march of your life, and you can't see how many are left.

This is very beautifully written, dear Ida, the melancholy is felt.
Gloomy perception of the passing of time.
Tomorrow morning when you wake up, smile to the new day, bless it and what it will bring. Welcome the new opportunities to make it a memorable day, by sharing your love and your beautiful heart.

Love and hugs.

I guess I don't think of this poem as sad,
just a statement of fact. If it's all the same to you Margharita, I'll bless the day in the evening when I am at my best. Thank you for always reading and commenting.

Dear Ida, highly effective metaphorical writing!

May those soldiers keep on trekking for each of us! lol

Love you!

Dear Ida,

I hope that the gloom has lifted in your world.  You write it well, but I'd rather you were looking into a window of someone else's life.  Not yours.

Thank you for sharing as you do.

Alison
