Felix’s foster dad
raises bees.

He’s taught Felix
how to take care of them.

At first Felix didn’t like
getting stung.

After about twenty stings,
Felix was lucky enough
to develop an immunity
to the venom.

He’s lucky that way.
Some people never are able
to develop that immunity,
and they are allergic to the venom,
and they die.

It’s as simple as that.

He knows the bees habits,
he knows what smoking the bees does.

It doesn’t make them happy
so they don’t sting.
No,
it makes the bees think
that their hive is on fire.

The bees go in the hive
and suck out as much
honey as possible,
so it doesn’t burn,
with that fake fire stuff.

When a bee’s tummy is full of honey,
it becomes incapable of stinging.

Then you can go in
and steal as much honey
as you want.

Felix liked the stealing part.

He also liked the bees.

Seeing them in the hive
by the tens of thousands
make him think of home,
of home in the crowded hood.

It almost makes him cry
from homesickness.

That’s what he likes about the bees.

They remind him of home.

Bobby

“Knows” ?

No matter what, I guess there just is no place like home is there?

I’m sending Felix a big hug…

Thanks Dear Tammy,

I don't know what I'd do without you.  Thanks for your help.

Yes, there is no place like home.  I love this city.

Love Bobby

I enjoyed the comparison Felix made between the bees and home.  I feel a little homesick too sometimes.  Hugs to Felix

Hello Bobby, another interesting poem from Felix...The bees are very useful but they can kill if they sting in a certain place (the throat, the mouth)...Three years ago when sitting on my bed I was stung in the butts and I was very stressed by that cause as a child I made asthma and can be allergic.... But in the buttocks there is not so much to worry...

Have a nice day

Thanks dear Sharyn,

Yes, a colony of bees is very much like a city.  Amazingly, it's all instinctive, there is no such thing as bee logic.

Thanks Yann,

I'm pleased you found it interesting.

There are a few, very few, people that have an extreme reaction to bee stings.  They immediately lapse into a comma, and many times die from just one sting.

When I lived in the country, I made a small amount of money from selling my honey.

When I was about 10, I spent the whole summer watching a hill of red ants and a hill of black ants gather food, go to war etc. I still find ants facinating. They have a whole structured society that people have no idea about. Much like bees. Of course bees make honey and are more useful to humans. I think we can learn something even from the smallest creatures.

Thanks dear Ida,

Yes, bees and ants do it all instinctively.  No logic is involved.  They are born with it.  At least that is the latest human thinking on the subject.

Well, then that must prove there is no logic to war. I found it very interesting that ants have funerals of a sort and bury their dead.

Thanks for the info re bee-keeping!

Felix is one strong kid! He can even stand to get stung! But here again, there's gain from pain! Now he's gained immunity against bee venom!

A poignant moment when the bumbling beehive reminds of home in the crowded hood.

Ida,

WW-II was very logical.  The war in Iraq is not.
