coffee cups and teapots on tables alone
with mem’ries unmasked in feelings undone
lift high the spirit as moods do bemoan
the heart cries of stories that slowly are spun
in the dust-craven mind, set into stone

etchings of time, carvings by those
whom time has forgot, tons of
remembrance in ounces of prose
words fall as leaves turned into dust
and that which recalls not the woes

of tea stained cups or soft brown mugs
dipped in conversation, rift by shrugs

as memories muddle, cream and sugar please

Wow Steaven, this one has blown me away…

I never thought of just how many shared stories and memories old coffee cups may hold… Beautiful!

You made me smile.  My mother has some old tea cups in her hutch.  They once were her great great grandmothers.  She would throw them over the porch railing if the tea was not the perfect temperature.  She must have been heck to live with - but some of the old china teacups were found under an old porch that was being dismantled decades later.

Alison, I live in a ‘coffee conversational’ family…goes forward and back in our family tree…holding conversations with coffee/tea cups in hand…I can understand your great great grandmother…thanks for commenting

I love the feel of this... I too have a coffee conversation family.  There are times when I peruse garage sales and such for pieces that remind me of good memories.
Clever write!
