Felix is feeling the need
for one of those,
nice,
soft,
salty,
warm
Philly soft pretzels.

Of course,
any Philly person knows,
soft pretzels
are the staff of life,
especially
for poor and hungry
Philly kids.

One of those yummy
soft pretzels
is good for a whole meal.

If you get one at lunch time,
it’ll last you till dinner,
or,  if necessary
longer.

Trouble is the price
just went up
for the soft pretzels.

You used to be able
to get a sack of five
soft pretzels for a dollar.

Hell,
that’d last you
for more than a day
of good eats.

Now the price
has sky rocketed
to fifty cents a piece.

It’s highway robbery
to charge a
hungry kid like Felix
fifty cents for what he got,
just last year,
for twenty cents.

Felix is going to have to
go on the bum
for that extra thirty cents.

It’s just no good.

I've heard of those Philly pretzels but have never been further east than Texas.
(for three days) so I've never tasted anything from Philly. Texas was total culture shock for me since I had never seen a place that was flat like that with no mountains.

Philly soft pretzels are delicious. I could live on them.

A lot of people think they're dirty for some reason, and won't eat them. They seem to forget they're in Filthadelphia. We eat dirt here, and love it.

I haven't had the pleasure of eating a soft pretzel-but am sorry about Felix's dilemna. Heck, I'd even loan him the 30 cents but postage has gone up too.

I visited Philadelphia during a few days in 1996 but didn't know about Philly Bretzels...

Yes, Philly soft pretzels are delicious. I try to go easy on them, because I don't want to hog them away from a kid like Felix.
