Justice

One year gone, as you and he are.
And not one day passed
that you and he weren’t thought of.

We can laugh easier with our memories now
While tears fill our eyes.

Because we haven’t forgotten
nor will we let it be silenced.
The responsible party
still lives freely.

We pray with angry fists
that justice comes
and releases some of the ugly.

So, today we come together
to remember you and he.
to honor the friendships you both gave.

The unspoken love and loyalty

and to pray that your memories
be given justice

SCO, 4/24/08

Outline

I am traced
Smeared outline of what I use to be, this life has taken a turn I could have never foreseen
My skin tingles with anticipation of touch that never materializes
Transparent, a shadow of intention never quenched
I am lost in a world of invisible need

I miss you
My memory now serves as a taunting reminder
Of what has gone, a haunting detail tangible only in tears
Bleeding the sweet, screaming obscenities for its sacrifice
It shouldn’t have been like this

I believed
In something, that is just beyond my recognition
Knowing once it was identifiable, yet never real
Wanting it enough to think I could make it touchable, painless
It could have been so much more

I ache
For a viable solution, a counter offer to misery
An alternative to this hopeless destiny
A world with the you I love, a world in which no one leaves, lies, pretends or dies.
It would have been everything.

Dear Susan, you write in such a deeply touching way. May justice be provided, though it won't make the pain of loss more bearable.

Reaching out with a tender hug.

Love,
Margherita

susan, i don't understand your specific circumstance causing your mental anguish but my "take" on your need for justice appears to be revenge. sometimes an individual's emotions and thoughts need professional help to bring inconsistencies to the surface in order for them to be resolved.

possibly, i have misunderstood your written presentation but under the circumstances i can only "see" it from my perspective of life and death...and my quest for viable solutions or "counter offers" to my former feelings of misery and hopelessness from the standpoint of my existence as a child and as an adult.

on the outside, you convey much physical beauty but on the inside there is an ugly suppression of relative facts. question...were the she and he you are referring to...pets, people friends, a child and husband or someone or something else? i'm curious and just trying to understand the reality. am intrigued by your writing!

read "loss by duncan and his comments...believe i now have a better understanding of the circumstance with which you are dealing...if you have not sought counseling, you might find it helpful in reaching some form of positive closure.

rv~ thank you for your concern, but I am fine except for the justice I seek.  Here is what I was doing tonight, so you can have a better understanding of why...

thank you, susan, i now have a better understanding of the situation.

hopefully, one day you and others will have a peaceful closure on the matter but in my view, an eye for an eye, when the murderer in found, will not provide that peace.

RV,

If I am honest, I must admit I am losing patients with your insistence that I said I wanted an eye for an eye. This isn't about you trying to "save me." With that said, I will take a deep breath and remind you that the title of this thread is "Justice." That is what I want. I want for him to rot in prison for the rest of his life. I want this murderer off the streets before he does this again. Is that okay with you?
Thanks.

sorry...don't believe i have communicated well...my intent was never to try to save anyone...it was only to understand a circumstance...and i believe my understanding has improved...and i agree...individuals who commit such crimes need to be removed and no matter what is done to them, it will never be enough...and each of us goes on...but in my mind is that "justice"...for some, maybe!

rv,

Thank you.  The justice I speak of is the only justice we, the family and friends, can have in this life.  So I will take it.  Is it enough? To those of us anguished over the loss of Matt & Chelsea, I think not.  Nothing can make up to me personally the loss of that girl smiling and laughing with my daughter.  Nothing can help me deal with the fact that my son no longer has a best friend from childhood.  And no punishment will be enough to heal the hurt my children have sustained that I, as their Mother, cannot fix.  But the person that did this, being made to spend the rest of his life in prison?  Sure.  It's a fine start.  The rest is up to God, not me.

Remembering Matt and Chelsea through your anguished, heartfelt words. I remember the gut-wrenching segment on America's Most Wanted, as if were only yesterday...

With love and compassion,
