Clouds

The clouds roll by like a great army above
shapeless shapes of mist and vapor,
commanded by the unseen
like little soldiers they obey without question
silently moving along across the sky
some seem happy, some seem sad
sometimes they make peace, sometimes war
sometimes they're not there at all
vanquished into another form
sometimes the sky darkens
the thunder rolls
the lightning flashes
with applause from heaven the show begins
like unseasoned tears the raindrops fall
to water the garden below
and the purpose of clouds is known...

Something mysterious about clouds, even though they are pure white, they are thick, without containment , roaming where they please, whatever form they wish to be...I envy the clouds..floating free on the wind...

I especially enjoyed the words used to create this imagery
"with applause from heaven the show begins
like unseasoned tears the raindrops fall
to water the garden below"
Pleasure to read, thanks for sharing

That's exactly what is happening here right now while I am writing this reply!

I LOVE clouds and your poem is very nice indeed.

Hello, Joe. From one cloud-gazer to another, I applaud your engaging poem!

Much can be gathered from a gathering of clouds!

Keep looking up! ~ and writing!
