They would return
by fade of day
settling back
to that first
stroke of blue
that christened
each morning

over the bend
of the pond
where sunlight
exceeded itself

back to that spot
they'd glide

white crowned by black
wrapped up in
the grieving colors
of twilight.

This is a nicely done poem.  I like it.   Barnegat Bay is one of my favorite places for fishing.  I’ll be out there soon.
