It would appear at times somethings
defy what we call "laws".
We all observe but seldom see
and that should give us pause.

Do cookies crumble in a way
that someone has foreseen,
or else why would we have that phrase
to convey what we mean?

Some contemplate cause and effect
at times they should have ducked
then are left dripping egg from face
and feeling like a schmuck.

It's true, into each life must fall
a little rain as said,
but what clown ordered a monsoon
and dumped it on my head?

At least it seems that way sometimes,
but then I get a break,
I don't expect a miracle
just maybe one fair shake.

And so it was today my friends
when fortune smiled on me.
I hardly could believe my eyes
and thought "how could this be?"

As buttered toast fell from my hands
defying certainty
and landed with the butter up
against all odds, for me!

Restoring faith, at least for now
in something someone said
"It's not like you won't drop your toast
but how it lands instead ."

I loved how you laced together all those common expressions into a new outlook.  I have never heard rhe message about the toast-that's new.
Thanks
sharyn

Refreshing look at Murphy's Laws.  Cleverly written and amusing ideas.  I chuckled quite a bit, especially as I anticipated the rhyme at verse 3 and was proved wrong!

Wonderful encouragement. When someone tells you "You're toast", things may still be looking up, despite the gravity of the situation.

Well done.

Susan,Sharyn,Art,ilsm,Ida,Paul,RC Langill,& Tammy.
Thank you all very much. I'm glad to see most( if not all ) of the replys connected with the humor which seems so much of a survival tool these days. It certainly helps me to see the this world of our making
a little less harshly. Be well,
Doc
