  Serenity taps my shoulder
       but I hear her not
I am lost in the grey of day
       that time forgot~

  Time knows not my mission
for it is hidden from me
      time, precious time
      grant me audience with
                    serenity~

  In the seek
     of all I speak
     words of priceless treasure
     know not the measure
of the thoughts that reside inside
     the serenity of me~

  Find me ...find me~

". . . precious time
grant me audience
with serenity"

Another affirmation of your command of your art and craft! You have the gift that allows the idea to stand higher than the words that expresse it!

This is one of the most melancholy poems
I've ever seen you post, Marge.

I do hope all is well.

Aw, you are special~

Karilea~
OMG !  Really ??  Then I succeeded in my endeavor !!
Sometimes I'm the quill ...
sometimes I'm just the ink~

LOL ... let's see,
I've often said that
I write the rhyme until I BECOME the rhyme~
Or maybe, she's got versatility, versatility !
Or .. oh by gosh, by golly
today I felt so melancholy~

It's only a  P O E M !

Ida~
Thank you very much~

Thank you~

I know it's only a P O E M, but I can feel gratified by it too, can't I?

*chuckling*

I've wondered, at times, if people changed the word "serenity" in their initial drafts so I wouldn't go pouncing all over it claiming it as MINE MINE MINE.

*now I'm cackling*

This is different from you, but it's like, your personal take on The Serenity Prayer, which is how I took my pen name anyway. I know it ain't all about me. I'm way more easy-access than the actual thing.

Thanks Margie! This is lovely, and I'd quibble only a little bit, because in my case, I've found that I have to CREATE serenity in me, or it is no where to be found outside of me. Go to the garden, lovie, and listen to the conversations of the roses...

Love ya lady!

serenely yours,

k

Lovely and yes indeed there are times when any one of us share this feeling.  It is deeper down in most people and so many do not see it in us or if they do they are surprised.  And yes, it is a universal feeling of being lonley in a crowd or even when running; running; running. "See how she runs"  Maybe it is a cloak of sorts we use as a shield? Loved it "late"

This is really different. I love the feelings you expressed, typical of a poet.
I couldn't help but still look around for the flower.

Hello Marge, I don't know if serenity is a nice place to be, like if something was missing...
Friendship is a quality of our weakness i think (unconscious or not)

However beautiful writing

I didn't find it at all melancholy - contemplative and still, perhaps.  Like a chant, as someone already said, while you seek serenity:

Om mani padme hum

v. well done!

the first part kida 'sums it all up' for me
(life, that is):

"Serenity taps my shoulder
       but I hear her not
I am lost in the grey of day
       that time forgot"

applause for this 'penning!'

It looks like serenity slipped me by ... I love it, dear Marge. May you be found! But I think it is your usual mood, just sometimes we are slightly out of balance and long to be centered again.

Love and balancing hugs.
