Where no tyranny is tolerable

Naked
It is Morning.
I am naked.
I walk into a shower stall,
sit on the floor and fall asleep.

It is Afternoon.
Someone is banging on the door,
yelling for me to get out of there,
that I've been in there for too long,
that it is a public shower,
and am I finished in there and hurry up.
I smear shampoo on my hair.
There is something wrong with the shower head.
It doesn't spray the water properly
but hastily, I finish and come out.

It is Night.
I am outside and walking down a steep hill.
I don't know the way back to my dorm.
I don't know where I am.
Had I known the showers were in another building,
a building to which I didn't know the way,
I would not have bothered bathing.
A man says do I need help?
I tell him I am looking for the a b c house.
He says he has been there and can take me.
I should have been in the registration line,
but instead spent the whole day in the shower.
I feel bad about this.
I tell him, in Spanish,
that I might need help with registration
because I don't know where anything is.
But I feel very badly about this.

A surrealistic dream, Jaime. Public showers are always scary even when you know the way back home. Not a fun dream sequence!
