I KNOW, IT'S TOO LONG FOR MOST TO READ, BUT....
as most of ya know...I never or rarely ever get serious about anything....but, reading some of the posts here makes even toerags ponder life and such....(you know, feel sorry for yourself, think about loved ones and friends that have come and gone thru out our short time here etc.), so,this is a conglomeration of old stuff, here's the last serious crap you'll see from me...

The poet has said for many a day
That time is a thief who steals hours away
and takes the blush from the cheek,
The sparkle from the eye,
A little of all as time passes bye.

Time takes the bright luster from the hair,
Steals the gold, but leaves silver there
Gone hearty laughter, the youthful sounds
But when I think of my blessings
Great joy abounds.

A springy step isn't there to see,
Time exchanged it for poise and dignity, (Yea right, from Toerag?)
Where once I ran, I now will walk
My best performances
Are now only talk.

Time gives one vision of yester-year,
Hard to recall without a tear,
Temporal were the things time took from me,
I've had so many joys
And paid a small fee.

Life's not simple, all ups and downs,
Joys and sorrows, smiles and frowns.
I've had both, but lately it seems,
The frown and sorrows, encompass my dreams.

My friends and family, are mostly gone,
Memories of past, have haunted so long.
I ponder my life, as I've reached middle age,
Is this the final chapter?..Should I write another page?

Listen to experience, the mesaage I send,
The valuable things, that this short life gives,
Are the laughter and love,
From family and friends.

If they told me I may be dying,
I really couldn't complain
I had two parents that loved me (most of the time)
And satisfaction few attain.

I've brought life into this world,
I've taken life away too,
The first was truly a blessing
Hope the other won't happen to you.

I've gained wealth with money,
I can purchase material things,
Can't take any with me
Nor the pleasures that they bring.

I've seen my children grow healthy,
Their laughter and joys and tears,
God they grew so quickly,
What happened to all the years?

True wealth's not counted in money,
It's not what you have in the banks,
The love of your family, the friends that are dear
Is the wealth deserving of "thanks"

Toe this is your best yet
And that is no bull
I now consider my debt
Paid up in full

You have become a good friend
Since I discovered these pages at Pip
And if you are still here at my end
Please don’t give me any “Lip”

I admire your prowess
You have earned my respect
If you are impressed

Do not give me thanks
Just send me a cheque
I know how you feel about banks...

(I Love Ya really! )

I hope you don't hold to that threat to make this your last serious posting. *S* For not all your friends are gone... and this one appreciates your heart even more than your humor. *S*

And... this might be just what I've been waiting for... I've spent quite enough time feeling sorry for myself, right? *S* Thanks for the inspiration... I might just lumber back into living. *S*

Beautiful work, dear friend!

Yes, an incredible write.
...Where once I ran, I now will walk
My best performances
Are now only talk...
This is also true for me.

Thanks, Melton

I always knew behind the silly words their beat a heart of gold. The warmth was not hidden or the caring for your fellowman.
This is lovely Mr. Toerag you have shared.
I would love to add just one thing.

The luster from ones hair that was once a golden treasure now has turned to silver dust. You can remedy that dear poet with
CLARIOL.

Good jobber Mr. Toerag.

You are quite the wise man, dear Toerag!! I love every word of this beautiful and touching poem.

I will keep it, so that I can read it when I get the blues ... life is a precious gift, even when we have to endure some hardships.

Love,
Margherita
