Butterflies

September came.
Left with the first hint of Autumn,
a wisp of coolness
that hinted of yellowing leaves.
I loved you then, especially then,
when little butterflies fluttered in my tummy –
your first hello.
Yesterday you were two,
today fifteen, and tomorrow,
your dad and I watch you walk away . . .
to a home of your own,
and I still love you . . .
just as I did then,
with little butterflies fluttering in my tummy,
hello still kissing my heart,
and mommy on your lips
as you turn and wave
goodbye.
September leaves today,
the first hint of Autumn,
a wisp of coolness
hinting of yellowing leaves . . .
your own little butterflies
whispering . . . hello.

May I call you Jimmy? Dear Jimmy, this is very very special you know!
You have put this together beautifully.
That kind of butterfly is a wondrous feeling.

Love,
Margherita

Jimmy,

This poem lingers like a butterfly.  I read it last night and smiled.  When I read it again, I smiled.  Thank you for the gift.
