.

Babycham or Bitter
Pink Champagne or Gin?
It matters not your tipple
When David gets them in

Then there is Old Martin
Who is as quick as a flash
When it comes to parting
With his hard earned cash

As for Casanova
(Actually that's Bill)
He is not slow to handover
His money for the till

But last Friday night
I thought there was going to be trouble
From that exiled Yorkshire Tyke
That looks like Gandhi's double

For he thought that Neil
Had diddled him with his change
I swear they must have heard him squeal
Up on Cinnamon Lane

When Effjayel got everyone a drink
What he did was not very nice
Because he tipped the boys the wink
And lied to Bob about the price

Now, this was not a very wise
Or clever thing to do
For Bob screwed up his eyes
And the air began turning blue

He said" I tell you what I think
This is what I'll do
I'm only going to buy one drink
And it can be shared between two!"

You could have cut the atmosphere with a knife
But Bob was expecting a round of applause
When he returned 3 drinks light
Clutching a handful of straws

As he sat there with a smug grin
Feeling rather proud
We just had to say to him
There are no pockets in shrouds...

And give to the giving
before it is too late
and Bob has taken everything
off the offering plate...

~*~

I don't know where that came from
it has it's own asking price,
but knowing what I know of mass,
I'll give that to you, twice.

God bless your friend, and his passing...

for that is how I read this.

Well, dear John, the end line sums it up powerfully!!

There is more in this write than might appear on the surface. Glad you shared!

John, thoroughly enjoyed as usual...

Down the pub on a Friday night
Can always be found to be
Such a playground for fun
A home turf for mirth
And a festival of frivality.

But the getting in of a round of drinks
Is always bound to sink
The good ship 'Tranquillity'.
