And he ran back
to find
that sure enough. all of his stuff
was exactly how he'd left it.
everything was safely unplugged
and his door of course, was firmly locked.
Still,
what price a little piece of mind?
he shrugged
even if it was considerably nearer 9 o'clock.

So he re-began
it was 8:47

Back to the pedestrian crossing
the green man was now taking his time
and he aired his frustration
in an internationally recognizable mime.

Eventually
over the road,
now power-walking.
Passing-by all his fellow passers-by
no time for any kind of small-talking.

8:57
Straight into the lift
Still got 3 minutes 'til the start of his shift

Made his desk
still a minute to spare.
Turned around smugly
to find nobody there.
It was then that he remembered,
it was Saturday.

THE END.

This was very funny and enjoyable, Simon.
It reminds me of the time my brother and I woke my other brother(who was taking a nap around six in the evening ) Told him it was morning and sent him to school.

Oh, Simon! This was just great fun to read! Every Saturday morning when I wake up I have to get clear about what day it is ... and when I realize, I smile to myself happily.

Love,
Margherita
