On this rainy night,
I think of you wearing a long coat,
your eyes like scattered drops of color
on the floor of a thousand panes of glass,
unshattered.

Where were you
when the last star and a slivered moon
overwhelmed the tears of a thousand nights,
then licked the first drop, like dew,
as morning happened,
again and again?

A thousand miles blow past my window,
leaving the scent of trees, left naked
by the raking air of winters,
as I find you, fragrant on my pillow
in the dark of a dream,
believing the dream I'm dreaming,
is true.

Martie!!! How I had missed you! Hope things are better.

You move me with your wonderful words here, to savor more than once, because they are first class poetry and because they hold incomparable beauty.

Love and hugs.

I especially loved the sensation of dreaming you wove in this poem Marti.
What a beautiful compliment, to changing seasons, in light and in life.

Welcome home.

superb Romanticism!

A grand-fine image:

“On this rainy night,
I think of you wearing a long coat,
your eyes like scattered drops of color…”

Also wonderful:

“the last star and a slivered moon
overwhelmed the tears of a thousand nights”

and:

“A thousand miles blow past my window”

very much applause of this 'penning!'

This is exceptional work.  I love the novel way you create such vivid images. As in
"Where were you
when the last star and a slivered moon
overwhelmed the tears of a thousand nights,
then licked the first drop, like dew,
as morning happened,
again and again?"  Spectacular!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for sharing
