When I was young
I thought I knew something about life,
...silly girl.
I was sure I understood love
and knew my own mind.
Looking back I have to laugh
at the drama I could create over nothing.
I thought I knew all about pain and loss.
and what the future held.
Now I look back at that person
who knew so much
and I think to myself,
...silly girl.

This makes us look back at our own pasts and for most of us this is quite an uncomfortable process. Love the solidarity here...

Ida,

Life goes on at its own natural pace.

Oh, if only I had a penny for each "absolute" I knew when, in youth, I was climbing the ladder of experience!

But, you know, that silly girl made you the beautiful woman you are.  If we hadn't had our time to make our mistakes and be self-centered - maybe we would not be here as we are.  I like you too much, Ida, not to be happy that 'silly girl' resided inside you.

Ida, hindsight is a wonderful thing, I echo Ali's thoughts..even though we all do things we regret, it is the things people don't like about us that makes us the people they love( if that makes sense?)  John

Dear Ida, this is indeed a thought provoking offering from your beautiful soul. Every moment in life has its own value and beauty and therefore I would not see our past experiences or attitudes as silly, but simply apt to that period of our life.
From the heights of our maturity it might seem silly, but was not, we had a certain "lightness" that maybe we lost ...

Love and hugs.

Thank you all for the wonderful comments. It's nice to know that I wasn't "silly" in vain.
