   Wilderness Symphony

These ancient mountains
in the mist...attend...
from a farther world,
where I have been a traveler
by clear murmuring streams,
chasing a cold sun through
soft-velvet evergreens,
(in fine cloud dreams)
along lonely paths of infinite
  ‘deep-time’ wonder.
Here, 200 million years
of only springtime thunder,
shook the bedrock and
   the stars,
before the human cacophony
of turbulence, greed, and
   devastation
first quelled the supreme
wilderness symphony.

Poet, you truly are of the bedrock, and your spirit also lives within the ancient mists.
As always, you have captured the heart of nature so well, and the devastation man(un)kind has done.
I especially enjoyed the "clear murmuring streams" and "soft-velvet evergreens" imagery!

Secondhanddreampoet,

This is fine work.  It would sound a little better to my ear if that was "cloud" instead of "clouds".

Sadly I see so much of this living in the northern NE mountains and lakes region. Land and forests are clear cut to make way for the upper crust to have second homes. It just infuriates me!

There is way too much greed in this country and it is destroying our world.

I always enjoy your thoughtful writings. Marti

I shall put my soul there to keep it clean, fresh and never be bothered.

It were like oxygen generator.. fresh airs to the mind in music.

This write is clearly written from knowledge in a compelling, somber spirit. It is just one of many examples in which you turn the old phrase on its head: a picture is worth 1,000 words; one of your words/phrases is worth 1,000 visualizations.

You walked me through the most beautiful place I have never before seen… and I saw it so clearly. In the end I walked away with my head hanging, for belonging to the human race…

Absolutely beautiful….
