Epiphany in the Night

I hadn’t seen the stars
In the fullness of their startling beauty
For a long, long time.
It was like rediscovering myself
As I stood there beneath a snowfall
Of celestial light, and once again
The wide eyed child from a century
Now passed.

How lovely the fireflies of June by night!
How warm my heart in the glow
Of sweet memory rising!
I am reborn, a citizen of a brave, new century,
Refusing to let this moment die,
So filled with hope and desire!

I deeply miss the night sky of my native state, Arkansas. In my hometown, there is little street light to wash out the beauty of the stars. In fact, a little walk into the woods on a moonless night will engulf one in near total darkness.

there is hope in childhood, you said it perfectly, blessed is the child's hope, we should try to preserve it when getting older...

  Have a nice day

This is wonderful!! I can relate, I am sad because of the light pollution, I can see very few bright stars and have memories of overwhelming beautiful visions of the milky way and shooting stars in other places ...

Enjoyed this greatly!

Love,
Margherita

thanks all for your warm comments! You might notice I changed the title. I wanted to simplify it a bit.
