7:30
Get up straight away
Can't risk snoozing time away
a surefire way of losing track
and collecting flack.
Can't afford to be late this morning.
There's too much chalk dust on your slate
and you are on a verbal warning.

Jump into the power shower
wash the weariness away
still got over an hour
and it's going to be a glorius new day.

The thought of food
might make you feel a little bit sick
but you know you really should eat something
and toast will be the most quick.

And a hot drink
of early morning juice.
Plug in the kettle
pull out a mug
and set the coffee loose.

Find a clean, fresh shirt
think, 'This could really do with a little bit of an iron,'
you should really learn to hang them up
instead of leaving them somewhere lying.

Give your hair a quick brush
brace yourself for the morning rush.
Brush your teeth.
Find your socks, shoes and trousers
another one of the early morning millions
bursting out of their houses.

Quick time check,
8:14
still got about 46 minutes
3 quarters of an hour
to make a 10 minute journey
and he was about to begin it.

No need for a car
it wasn't very far
and only if he saw a bus would he grab it.
It wasn't a day for worry and fuss
and being like 'Alice In Wonderland's' white rabbit.
Loads of time...

You caught the early morning atmosphere perfectly in this one, dear Simon!

Can't we all relate! No, I know there are those who can program everything down to the minute which maybe diminishes stress, but being creative people it's more likely that we are not part of that kind!

Enjoyed this greatly!

Love,
Margherita

Simon, Good job & it made me smile as your posts normally do....not that I want to tick you off, but I am so lucky as 1) I do not have any hair to worry about brushing 2) I work from home & so can afford the luxury of waiting until you & the other zillions of bods have fought your way into work & can take a leisurely drive along almost deserted roads & deliver the verbal warnings. It is an awful job but someone has to do it!

You sound like a very efficient person

Simon, I think it would be a safe bet to say that you are never late , enjoyed.
