Lumpy oatmeal makes me crazy!

Half-dressed, reading poetry,
drinking coffee black and hot.
Fingers mess up messed up hair.
Words tease in a fleeting flirt dance,
have-to’s lose to want-to’s.

Lazy Sundays feed the need
for reward after six days
of being somewhat responsible.
Bed calls, books whisper for attention,
begging for just a bit of time.

Savoring this quiet day,
I fall into the folds of time for me.

After years of getting up at five thirty and getting ready for work, (I worked at two different schools) and had to be their by 7:00 AM, I am enjoying being retired.
Your poem so expresses my thoughts about my weekends when I worked.

Alison,

I do hope you're fully dressed when you read my poetry.

Cute idea.

Barry,

I am so glad that you do give yourself that time.  We deserve it.

Yep, James.  I am working on perfecting my Lazy Sunday art.  I am sure that this will not be my last "Lazy Sunday" poem.  They are so pleasurable.

Hello Alison, enjoyed your poem and I confess I'm a little ashamed cause I have two (as many frenchies) lazy days (saturday and sunday)
I will think of you next sunday...

Ah, so little time, so much desire! Very lovely, Alison, it expresses a mood to which I can truly relate. Enjoyed very much.

Sooooo cute, dear Alison!!

It happens so rarely that want-to's win over have-to's, sadly!

Love and hugs.
Margherita ... oh, tomorrow, isn't a Sunday, I must remember!
