A slipper lay before me
upon that grass fed knoll.
It captivated and floored me
this shoe did take it’s toll.

I looked o’er the meadow
and swam across the brook.
I followed my only shadow
through each cranny and crook.

I cried to hear a calling
of one that I might see.
Oh love, thy love is trying
to keep and capture me.

The darkness soon will swallow
and lead me blindly away.
I’ll cross that lonesome hollow
where elves once came to play.

But now they are so silent
and grasses now lie gray
for love is doubly distant
and a slipper hobbled away.

I love this.  It is so beautiful and just kind of speaks to something inside me.  I have saved it - thank you for writing it and thank you for sharing it.

Dear Barry, there is such melancholy in your words, you made me strongly feel your longing.
