Perspectives

The last throw of snow has departed.
Its absence complies with my will.
And the boy, once so glad when it started,
Now just complains of the chill.

Is is wisdom that age has imparted,
Or the lack of a sled and a hill?

Age, I'm afraid. I tried the sled and the hill, it wasn't the same. These thought have crossed my mind also. Well done.

That, and perhaps timidness borne of knowledge.

There was yard at the end of the street we sledded down. We had sort of an informal contest to see who could get furthest across the yard. There was also a blackberry thicket at the end of the yard. Despite the contest, it was considered more a misfortune than an honor to go plowing face first into the blackberries. Didn't stop us though.

Bob Seger expressed it best in Against the Wind:

quote:
If only I didn't know now, what I didn't know then.

I like this and I still make snow angels and love to sneak up behind the guys I work with and hit them with a snowball or wash their facies or put it down their backs.  And to think that they love me.

And I know that these sentences are run on and fragments.

But, I like this poem and I am thinking in fragments tonight.

Thank you for writing this one and sharing it.
