"this is no dream."

the words float down to me
as i stand on the edge of the abyss.

i look down,
below me is a liquid marble whirlpool,
a vortex, drawing my eyes to it's center.

"jump."

the words assail my memory.
i've heard this voice before
but i cant place it.

i see another ledge in the distance.
broken bricks strewn around,
a great battle once waged here.
and slowly i realize
those bricks were once walls,
walls that resided in me.

"let go!"

a different voice this time.
familiar, euphonic,
it's notes deny my reluctance.

i realize the voice is coming
from the center of the vortex.
it's your voice.
you've always been here, camouflaged.

"come home!"

you call to me, you plead.
i inch closer to the edge.
there is no safety net here,
only you, and my fears.

i
jump.
my heart, once made of glass,
now fuses to yours.
giving me strength, making me alive.

on the way down i look back
to the ledge ,
and i see my fear still
standing there.
then it collapses into itself,
along with the bricks that
were my walls before you
shattered my resistance.

all that remains is a
cadaverous shadow,
weaker than the wind that
now carries it away.

i look down again.
i am finally free.
and i will spend eternity

falling
endlessly

into

you.

I really like this poem and will be back later to read it again.  But these lines are words to live by -

on the way down i look back
to the ledge ,
and i see my fear still
standing there.

---

Thank you, I am going to keep these in my pocket for the day, if you don't mind.

Yo C_fuller,

Don't jump home-boy.  Don't forget to capitalize your "I"s.

C,

I see that you take your poetry
in the likes of e e cummings.
Not to be confused with C. C. Cummings.
Nothing wrong with that.

Write on!
