To: A Soldier

You, world around us oh so weary,
Spin your enemies from the face upon thee.
Stop this war and end this hate,
This fear runs deep that it may soon be too late.

Some don’t know why it’s so confusing,
Halt these damages before they are more than bruising.
So many have lost their lives and turned to dust,
End this please! You must, you must.

Too close to death our friends have been near,
What kind of man yearns to know this fear?
How close to death; Could you stomach the truth?
One wrong move and--poof.

How afraid we are the whole time a soldier is gone,
Though some people say it’s darkest before dawn.
Yet it seems foul-mouthed to ask for them home,
The armed forces are all some soldiers have ever known.

It doesn’t matter if we support the war or not;
It is our duty to bring our soldiers home, the entire lot.
How vain it seems arming our troops with such mighty guns;
Almost everyday another family loses their dearly loved one.

We hope, we pray, and some cross fingers,
Always nearby though, wretched Death lingers.
Whatever the cost it’s still our war over there,
No matter how bad it hurts from so many who don’t care.

To all those who serve, especially our Army Strong,
I love you, I thank you, forgive those whom are wrong.
Keep your heads up high and stick out your chest,
You men, you women, you are our country’s very best.

DeLuxx,

Poetry doesn't have to rhyme.

Read some of the poetry posted here by other writers, and you will see what I mean.
