In the past he'd possibly been guilty of occasionally taking the 'mickey'
cynically pulling the odd 'sickie'

And he'd always been so universally admired
always suitably attired
someone to whom others generally aspired
and were regullary inspired.
you'd never find him in the kitchen at parties
he'd be busy in the sitting room, getting wired.
Now there was no chance of him ever being fired
'cause he'd been prematurely retired.
His membership was permentally expired.
And he occasionally (only very occasionally on particullary bad days) wishes that he hadn't even been sired.

And he'd do anything to still be running up that hill,
pick his chin up from off the window sill.
And maybe, one day he will.
Fingers crossed.

But now, today's the day
To pay the bill
And count the cost
Of all that's lost
To the professionally ill.

Yes, dear Simon, this is about a very bitter pill!

You really succeeded in writing a very significant piece on a very serious topic. The bitterness is felt.

Love,
Margherita

Simon,

This is very good work.  Shades of Edwin Arlington Robinson's "Richard Cory".  Poor Richard Cory.

Cool, in a way it reminds me of a song, The Ghost of Corporate Future by Regina Spektor.
