Madame Queen
sits fat and wide
out in front her house.

She’s got wind of Felix,
and what he gets into at night.

She’d dearly love to incorporate
twelve-year old Felix
into her stable of working girls.

He’d be a kind of novelty—
don’t you know?

“Yo Felix,
come over here,
I want to talk to you.”

“Yeah Madame,
what’s on your mind hon.”

“I think you need protection—
someone to help you manage
your affairs.

How would you like to
be part of the house?”

“No, thanks,
that’s all right sweetheart.
I do well enough on my own.
Besides,
Mom would miss me
something terrible.”

“Well, a tough guy huh?
If you ever go and get yourself
beat-up real bad,
you always have a home here.”

“Yeah, I’ll remember that.”

Bobby

Dear Bobby, at twelve dear Felix recognized the trap, like tongues of fire ready to catch him!
Disquieting reality!
Nothing good will come from closing our eyes ...

Love,
Margherita

Dear Margherita,

What you say is very true.  Ignorance of the horrors of the world is never a good thing.

Thanks for that.

RDB,

Felix has very many interactions with people.  It's a marvel how he keeps track of things.

He's pretty smart to stay away from Madame Queen.  She used to sit at her window, and watch us coming home from High School.  A girl cousin worked for her, we never heard from cousin again.
