The world with trepidation held one great collective breath,
for two were joined in battle, let the chips fall where they may.
These legends in their own minds now would fight unto their death,
for bragging rights to Piptalk were at stake again this day.

The faithful held their placards saying " Balladeer still rules"
and sundry other phrases propping up the party line.
The challenger, a stout lad from far off across the pond
professed himself successor to the throne, thought in decline.

A scholar versed in history watched events again unfold,
a tale that in its telling was repeated many times.
Court jester and magician, a great wizard born of old
with mirth saw these proceedings and put forth this two bit rhyme.

No matter who's the victor, neither's apt to learn a thing,
for blustering and posing seems the order of the day.
True genius on the sidelines is the power behind the king,
and so with great amusement I behold this witless fray.

"A couple mortals squabbling, take your pick ol' buddy Zeus."
From up here on Olympus, "Just have at it." says Da Moose!

Rah, rah! Siss, boom, bah! ~ Da Moose is baaack!

I see that your wit and wisdom are still alive and well up there on your lofty perch atop Mount Olympus!

Alas, they are but mere mortals, and you know how mortals are!

.

Breathing that thin air on the mountain top
Must have Dr Moose confused
Why else would he take a shot
At beating me at muse?

A former magician & court jester
Wizard and scholar to boot?
More like Uncle Fester
In a fake Caribou suit

You’ve just given me a good reason
To shoot you down in flames
So I declare this open season
And Da Moose are now fair game

effjayel,

Indeed the air is rare up here from high atop this mount.
Confusion? That's another thing, but whose is up for grabs.
To meddle in the Gods' affairs could up the body count,
the Sword of Righteousness won't strike in little dribs and drabs.

I see your brash impertinence has filled you with false hope.
You'd well to focus on the "Deer" a much more suited game.
The precipice cries out to you, you're on a slippery slope,
most surely I won't be reduced to simply calling names.

Yet, if you feel the need to test your mettle 'gainst a Gods',
I've many names acquired over many thousand years.
My current incarnation may be of a bumbling moose,
a harmless affectation to allay you mortals' fears.

You tread where but one outcome has already been ordained,
you're either mad or foolish, but, I'm leaning towards insane.

Earth Angel,
Well, thank you my dear, and I am glad to see you are alive and well below. Yes, alas, they were never too well known for their powers of reason.
Doc

James Michael,
Now see, this is what happens. I try to remain neutral as an impartial observer and the next thing I know they start with the name calling and throwing gauntlets and such. Yawn... if things weren't so boring up here I wouldn't even bother.

What's Up Doc?

.
Your so called sword of righteousness
Holds no fear for me
For if I were to hazard a guess
I’d say ‘twas as dull as your poetry…

You have no idea where to start
If you think you can strike fear into my heart
It appears you have ideas above your station
Regarding your current incarnation

There can only be one outcome
To this battle of wits my friend
Unfortunately you shall be the one
That meets a sticky end

I have you for company
Upon this slippery slide
And you are the one that’s going to see
Victory denied ….

You may be correct in your conclusion
That I am in fact insane
But to what do you owe your confusion
Would that be your Asses brain….?

I note that you have many names
By which you have been formerly known
Just let me know what to call the remains
Beneath your forthcoming  tombstone….

effjayel,

Reluctantly I shall reply, I'd hoped you'd see the light.
'Twas never my intention, fool, to engage in this fight.
I merely wished to just observe the foibles of you two,
but as for what to call me now, I think "My God" will do.

As in " My God , have mercy please I've overstepped my bounds."
Or yet perhaps, "My God , feel free to throw me to the hounds."
Or better yet "My God may I now grovel at your feet?"
'Twas I not you I called insane, shall I turn up the heat?

Or just call forth a vision of the future so you'll know,
from here your best move's backward, let me help you, there ya go.
Ascention to this realm requires more than conquered fear,
you see it also helps if you've got something twixt your ears.

And so again I say my friend I came but to observe,
there is no need to pursue this, it's past
your learning curve.

Dear God,

I am rather busy at the moment as I have my hands full with, at the last count 5 ( 6 with you) verbal bullies trying to kick my butt. I know you advise turning the other cheek but I am trying really hard not to commit murder. I have decided it may be better to do an alternative take on adultery with the nay sayers....

An observer you say? I thought they were supposed to keep big mouth wide shut, no?

Now please do not misinterperet this, but seeing how I am rather preoccupied & believe it or not all in favour of a quiet life, if it makes you feel any better..I'll leave you alone.

I know what I did
I ackknowledge my sin
But if I were you
I'd put 20 quid on me to win...

For it seems like Balladeer has given up, 1 down, lost count of how many to go....

effjayel,
I don't know about the 20 quid, but, know that there are those in higher places that smile on your efforts, and, should you require any divine intervention just say the word.

RDB,
Thank you, haven't had this much fun in quite awhile.
Doc

Karen,
Lol, thanks doll.

Sunshine,
Thanks, I'm afraid my modesty was showing a little on that one.
