Despair Is The Jacket I Wear

Despair is the jacket I wear
stormy weather, Frank Sinatra and absolute nowhere
lonely is the booze that I drink
I sip at the flask of pathetic until I can't even think

Autumn was the color of her hair
her September skipped to December without care
lost was the song I sang to get found
never did time reverse, what's worse is she got found

Memory is the bitter pill
swallowed whole but my heart won't be still
sweet is the hearbeat I gave
never knowing she would use it to dig my grave

And I just
can't
get back to the feeling of right
being held in the night
felt all the warmth in her care
and now
despair
is the jacket I wear

Rain, the mood where I dwell
you see me in all the colors of a stormy swell
blue, the moon in Cancer is me
I define the overly-sensitive, idiotic melancholy
you see

And I just
don't
know where to go from here
I wanna feel you near
to remember how, what, when, where
but now
sad
is the compass I carry
despair
is the jacket I'm wearing
winter
was the color of her caring
fool
the thought that she'd marry
so blue
were the ribbons in her hair
despair
is the jacket I wear
on the way
to
absolute nowhere

I hear a melancholy guitar, strumming and picking each blue note of loss until it all blends together, in one long sigh of goodbye.
Nice blues lyrics, Zach.

Soul drifter,

This would be improved as a poem by putting it in the third person.
