On a Green Day

Those who now watch weather
with somewhat more accuracy these days
were correct, once again, that
following a slow snow day
it would rain, and more is expected
this night.

Outside, it is warm enough to make
a creeping fog so that
everything is dully, misty gray
on a green day.

Somewhere, it was sunny, and
somewhere or another, a band played;
somewhere else, someone
skipped a dance, and celebrations occurred
on a green day.

~*~

Looking out the window
on three little piles of sunflower seed,
milo, bits of corn and such feed
that is spread daily for squirrels,
birds, and others

sits a mourning dove. Seems our doves
return yearly. I am glad of that.
I believe she must be female,
because she sits directly
in the middle of the middle pile of feed.
She is lovely in her every day
gray, and eyes me carefully: am I friend
or foe? Yet she doesn’t move, but merely
fluffs up a bit, as if she were sitting a nest.

It seems she brings promise
of something new to be soon,
on a green day.

In my mind, I sit with her.

A perfect way to reflect... on a green day.

Sunshine,

This is well written, and meaningful.  I like it.

"everything is dully, misty gray
on a green day."

a beauty of a green day poem Karilea
the contradiction seems so fitting
