ride down, ride down,
down rocky ridge into wide valley
where flows the Ninnescah
waters birthed in winter's snow
then weaned in April's thaw
'cross Kansas plains in eddied sally
flows swift and clear the Ninnescah
ride through, ride through
through blue-stemmed grass
on hidden trail where long ago
the Kiowa rode down to Ninnescah
at river's bend lone cottonwood
stands guard o'er water's flow
in canopy of ancient tree
sounds forth the blackbird's caw,
ride down, ride down
ride down to current's edge
on hidden trail in blue-stemmed draw
ride down, ride down to Ninnescah

Thank you sir. Between the last of the snow
flakes, you and the history of Kansas
bring spring to the fore.

I do hope all is well with you.

"at river's bend lone cottonwood

You've taken us by the hand and led us down, to Ninnescah.
Your words let us breathe the essence of nature,
allowing us to experience a spiritual moment.
