Listening to every heart

An Irish Pantoum

My eyes of green wear me today
In the springing of my Irish heart
The winds blew away the clouds of gray
Hearing promise of a new love’s start

In the springing of my Irish heart
I am again a young colleen
Hearing promise of a new love’s start
I’m led back to love’s sweet dream

I am again a young colleen
For by your touch of giving all
I’m led back to love’s sweet dream
To see you stand again, so tall

For by your touch of giving all
That my heart would plead you stay
To see you stand again, so tall
My eyes of green wear me today.

Karilea, My Mother came to England from Ireland during the war, my grandfather was the intake sergeant on a military base not far from where I now live. I remember when I was growing up relatives coming over to visit and stay with us. We used to sit around the old coal fire after the grown ups came home from the pub & toast soda bread over the open flames & sing old Irish folk songs complete with fiddle & tin whistles. My cousin that used to mind us while they were out was called Colleen, this invoked many happy memories for me & for that I thank you... BTW, it was also she that introduced me to Roy Orbison many years later, a love of whom I still have today   John
