I sleep
and dream

I sleep
and do not dream

I falls
I rises

Time passes

Morning comes
with its familiar aches.
I strain to attain my
Cro-Magnon birthright
and stand erect.
Take baby steps
to the bathroom,
where I sit in quietude,
except for the noise
of a heartbeat that
fills my head.

Time passes

The need to
break fast.
Mind is busy
but stomach is slow.
Nothing solid
Just liguid oatmeal
Select hops and
malted barley.

Time passes

If it passes enough...
Easter will arrive.
I will visit the stone slab
I call Mother
and its conjoined twin
I call Father.
I will talk to Times past
as Time passes.

Is it granite?
marble?
I do not know
I did not foot the bill.
I only pay the price.
Maybe it is plastic.
Much has been
accomplished
as Time passes.
Seems real.
Whatever real means.
But surely...
As real as the heartbeat
in my head.

Where Time passes

I enjoyed this, Uriah. I have found myself thinking similar thoughts as I get older.

It's good to see you again Lar, and your poem sounds like you've been hiding under me skirt of late.

'Cause that's all I've been saying...

"It'll pass."

So I was thinking, "If everything is now, and this too shall pass, what da...???"

A somber reflection, but I'm ticking like a freakbomb today. Hugs, bud.

Makes me want to reach out with a big hug, breathing together for a while quietly.
This is very good poetry, dear Uriah, see, so real that it touched me deeply across the world.
Love.
