A Man of Many Appetites

He is a man of many appetites,
Known to spend lingering hours
In the night, his eyes, giant mirrors,
Twin telescopes peering into the all
Elusive darkness, looking for something
That will substantiate his feeble argument
On the how and why of his existence.

He is a man of many appetites,
walking on the vast shore
Of the mighty Pacific, while he makes footprints
In the sand that will quickly wash away,
As in the enigma of elusive, vanishing time.

He contemplates origins, as he looks into the deep,
Chilly water, and wonders if it is why he is so drawn
To that fading horizon, and the waves and breakers
Crashing upon the rocks that lie just ahead.
There is mystery in the murmurs of sand and sea.

He is a man of many appetites,
But now he thinks of a burger and fries,
As he returns to the small confines of his motel room,
Where a sweet gloom sits in an easy chair,
as if a lady in waiting.

Art,

This is rather good writing.  I like the way you put a different image into each strophe.
