The Great Spirit Cried
Please Click Link above to hear music and my voice recording.

Music: Enter the Sacred by David and Steve Gordon
From the album entitled: Drum Medicine

Artist: M. Caroselli

The Great Spirit Cried
by Linda L. Dowd

Recalling told stories, I kiss sacred ground,
With spirits of the Ancients swirling around.
Haunting drum music from our heritage past,
Echoes across plains ~ long-since, trespassed.

Blood courses through veins in a rhythmic beat,
While upon Mother Earth my moving feet,
Dance to the din of the Indian dirge,
~ Answering the call of my native soul urge.

Manitou Father sighed from sorrow and sadness,
The White Man had pillaged and raged in his madness.
Native peoples lost all, and eventually died.
~ Rain of salt tears, the Great Spirit cried.

Recalling told stories, I kiss sacred ground,
With spirits of the Ancients swirling around.
Haunting drum music from our heritage past,
Echoes across plains ~ long-since, trespassed.

~

But a few years ago the white buffalo was born and (as was predicted)the Native Americans are becoming wealthy due to Indian gaming.

Linda,

Your poetry is soothing and beautiful.  It reads so smoothly and I can relax - knowing that I won't have to fight my way through it.  Know what I mean?  I love your words.  I am your fan.  I wear a pin ... Fan of Smooth Writin' Linda of PiP. I do, I really do.  Wanna buy one?

As you so kindly suggested, I checked out Joe Crow's poetry in the Spiritual Forum. He is a very fine poet and I like his style and the inherent messages therein.

Thank you also for the kind words for my writing, as well!

RDB ~

lol Roneice, you're a pet! Hey, I've got an idea! I'll put an order in for thousands of Alison's pins "Fan of Smooth Writin' Linda of PiP" and I will distribute them free of charge!

It pays to advertise! So save your dime! The pin will be on me! ~ so to speak! lol

I will pay Alison a kingly sum for the pins because she deserves it! ~ and besides, I will use the cost of them as an income tax deduction when I am making millions from my books! lol

Love, hugs, 'n smiles,

Careful Linda, I would not buy one of those pins off of the former Mz Aziza.... you need to ask why she thought it necessary to change her name....take my advice, she is not to be trusted. I speak not as one of her former bitter horizontal dancing partners but as a concerned friend. I have seen her fashioning these “pins” in her frozen workshop. Are you aware that she fashions them out of perma frosted moose do-do’s? I think the fumes from the chemical reaction of her blow torch mixed with the copious amount of Tequila she consumes has got her wired to the moon. After she has stamped your image into the blanks, there is not enough room on the button for the slogan “ Earth Angel The Champion Residing At Passions” and she has had to shorten it to just the initial  initials.....

FJL ~

Sorry to inform you, but Alison makes the pins from 24 carat gold and then lovingly etches them with "Fan of Smooth Writin' Linda of PiP".  She buffs the pins until they sparkle like a star!

Got them all ready ... 10,999 are shined to a high gloss.  Golden sheen shining.  One is made out of horse dung and spotted with flies ... oh, Jo-hn!

Linda, don't mind Johm - I think he forgot to take his Ritalin today.  This is a beautiful poem.  Yep, gorgeous.  Divine.  Delightful.  De-Linda-licous (okay, I made that word up - but you get the picture).

Earth Angel,

I like your style, very fine writing and inspiring too! I'm glad John introduced us in his own way.

I'm gonna leave another one I wrote here on your thread I think you may enjoy, I wrote it after a trip out west. Check it out...

Mesa Verde

The beautiful Mesa rising high above the world below holds the homes where the Ancient Spirit sleeps. Carefully crafted and blending perfectly with nature I’m struck by the simplicity of; No Wasted Motion. Where everything has its purpose, where each space serves need, intertwined and connected. One Family. One heaven above, one Earth below, where all are One with nature and each other created in unison by God.

Today the houses seem deserted. The tourists come and gaze upon the works of old. Is it wonder or admiration that brings them here? Perhaps it’s only a lack of something better to do but I would like to think that at least some of them search for the one that slumbers and I wonder if they know the Spirit moves among the trees? I wonder what they see when they close their eyes and if they too see the faces looking back, some with stripes and some with spots?

It’s of little consequence to me what they can see for it seems destiny has been dealt like a handful of cards. The People have been scattered like the broken pottery shards. Driven away by the hand of God while the worlds distraction has made a tourist attraction of the place the People used to call home…

                          Joe Crow

Have a nice day!

Joe ~

What a pleasant surprise to see you in Open and away from your "Spiritual" realm! (forum)

Thank you for dropping by! I very much enjoyed your "Mesa Verde". It is very apparent to me why John would think I would enjoy your poetry. It speaks to me. In fact, if you check out my "Celtic Lovers", you will notice that I talk about the spirit of the trees, as well!

I like the way you think! ~ and write!

Kindred hugs,
