The earth, in all its blue and green hues, travels through space, advances in time,
Pulled forth by a single point, an event, a goal that exists solely in the future,
Being in actual reality on a physical plane, not only in the mind.

As we review the past experiences of the universe,
And we observe the conglomeration of events into a giant singularity,
We see the human species hurtling towards a change,
A break from regularity.

Evolutionary theory is taught in a misleading manner,
You see, there are no gradual timelines of change,
Only massive reconfigurations of species, breaking into our dimension with the subtlety of a hammer,
Generally spurred on by outside events, occuring within a single moment,
This process is and has been accelerating since the big bang, but few among us seem to notice.

Complexity increasing exponentially with each new change,
Advancing past biology, scoffing at nature, and accepting no blame,
Humanity has entered an advanced state of cultural and technological evolution,
Might we one day become human computers on a planet wide network,
Operating for the benefit of those that profit from commodity distribution?

The possibility is certainly present and realistic,
Helpless to stop it, we observe it with shivers,
Something new is afoot, but we don't know what is it,
Be prepared for the next step in human evolution,
I can assure, you won't want to miss it.

Peter,

Shades of my man Loren Eiseley.  I like what you have said.

Thanks guys.  It's inspired by the writing of Terrance McKenna (on novelty theory) and of Stephen Jay Gould (on evolution).
