The tent was set up in the field, the people filled it quick,
They came - the weak, the needy ones, the hopeless and the sick
They came to find a miracle to ease their pain a while
And all applauded wildly as the preacher walked the aisle.

He made his way up to the stage and raised his hands up high.
The crowd grew deathly quiet as he looked up at the sky.
"Oh, Lord, please help these wretched souls in their hour of despair!'
"Who needs a miracle?!" he called, to those assembled there.

He noticed Toerag's half-raised arm and said, "Come here, my son."
"Tell the Lord your problem and we'll see what can be done."
"What is your affliction?"  "It's my hearing", Toerag said.
He bade Toerag to kneel, then placed both hands on his head.

He started singing to the heavens - everyone joined in.
Before too long the tent was filled with overflowing din.
The preacher hit Toe several times and said, "Be cured, my friend!"
While Toerag knelt, unmoving, waiting for it all to end.

Finally, he raised Toe up and aimed him at the crowd.
"Tell them all that you are healed. Shout your praise out loud!"
How do you feel, son? Have God and I released your sorrow?"
"I don't know yet", Toerag replied. "The hearing is tomorrow!"

Toerag went back home but totally  lost his sleep that night
He was kind of glad that the miracle had made him bright
"Many people have blindly said that I had no good heart
Now I can hear it bumping loudly to prove that I'm smart

But what  has bothered my dream was not the thunder and light
It is  to hear Balladeer badmouthing me at my back.
He is the only friend that I get on my lonely grade
So I'll go back tomorrow to pray for a hearing maid."

LOL, loved the poem and a great ending Michael! You are wonderful as always, rofl!

Toe ... I'd join you guys for that "sentence".  Time with you two always  sounds like a "good" time to me!

Best wishes to you both,

Toerag got to court next day and stood before the judge
When asked to plea, his lawyer had to give ole Toe a nudge
“Not guilty!” Toerag shouted and “I’ll tell you all just why”
“It wasn’t me that done the deed it was some other guy!”

“He’s always picking on me and in fact I see him here”
“It’s that guy right over there, they call him Balladeer”
The judge asked Toe to come up front then looked him in the eye
“You really don’t expect me to believe this silly lie?”

“I swear it’s true your honor, I wouldn’t kid you none”
“You wouldn’t believe all of the things this Balladeer has done”
“Now hold on Mr. Toerag, do you know just why you’re here?”
“No” said Toe, “But I am sure it’s ‘cause of Balladeer”

“He’s caused all of my problems and I’m sure this ones the same”
“Don’t need to look no further, ‘cause he is the one to blame”
“How strange” the judge commented “According to this report”
“You’re here because you are behind in all your child support”

“Aha!” ole Toerag hollered “I knew that it was true”
He looked at Balladeer and said “I’m here because of you”
Toerag smugly told the judge “you’d best give him the fine”
“’Cause Balladeer told me those seven kids ain’t even mine”

Sorry Balladeer, I couldn't resist.

'Deer, you are quite good at these for an old guy, take no notice of James Michael, he is just trying to cause trouble. I would hate to start another international incident. It would do the Anglo American cause no favours. I still remember my history lessons from school, we would not want another repeat of the misunderstanding in Boston when we tried to tell you the correct way to make a cup of tea....
