Felix is stationed
down at Redstone Arsenal,
Huntsville, Alabama—
Rocket City U.S.A…
he and Warner Von Braun,
they’re going to the moon.

It’s all very scientific.

He’s tired out,
laying on his bunk
in the all together,
about ready to fall asleep.

The guy’s are horsing around,
one of then jumps on Felix.

Felix has a sudden flashback
to childhood days.

He gives a mighty shove,
knocks the trooper to the floor.

Felix beats the living stuff
out of that trooper.

Bobby

I hope that Felix was not in trouble. But childhood memory of been humiliated indeed hurt deeply and Felix could not allowed it happen again and again. Good Felix.

LadyTom,

Thanks for that dear.

No, Felix did not get in trouble.  U. S. Army troopers are a rough and tumble group.  This was an everyday happening.

I will say this.  No one ever bothered me that way again.

Ida,

I have become convinced that there is no such thing as a happy childhood.  It just doesn't exist.

Childhood is a horror story everyone would love to forget, because it happened to them.

I'd pass on going back there.

Robert~

Took some time to read "Felix" this weekend and I was instantly intrigued.  I think I have read them all and did enjoy.

As for childhood, I disagree that there is no such thing as a happy childhood.  Most, I think, are a combination of both good and bad, just like adult life.  We live, we learn, we grow.  It's how we handle the bad.  For a child that is harder, I understand, and I do understand.  Hopefully they find their way through the bad and come out with a stronger need for success and making a difference.

And my friend is a foster parent.  She is absolutely wonderful at it.  There is hope, always hope.

Susan,

Thanks for enjoying the Felix series.

I am sure that there are many good foster parents.  It was just never Felix's experience to meet one--which was very unfortunate.

I have never been in foster care, thank God,
but I have seen it up close and personal on several occasions and I think  good foster parents are few and far between from what I've observed. Like everything else, It's a money thing.

Ida,

All of my information on foster care is from an old friend who was in foster care.  He died in an auto accident many years ago.  He ralated his experiences to me before he died.

From what I have read Felix has overcome the horrors of his childhood to become a splendid father, honest worker and great writer.
