Where the child can be free

He Won't Wake Up

A man in a suit said
"Go or we're all dead"
And so I went away
That very day

I was given a gun
And told I couldn't run
Must shoot to save the world
Trigger finger curled

Silence broke with a crack
And cries of "fire back"
The air filled up with smoke
Free hell had broke

I killed masked enemy
So they wouldn't kill me
I saw my brother fall
Must kill them all
Must kill them all...

I don't envy a man who must face a battlefield.  You've captured the vision well, openthoughts.

Sad very sad. Revenge will hurt more you then the person you hate.  Great imagery in this poem!

Stark and sad.  Like Nan, I don't anyone facing a battlefield.  This is a poem that makes one think.

Openthoughts,

That’s the way it is.  Good job on this.  That’s what the bayonet is used for—to kill.
