I felt the heat of love’s belief
that I flounder out of depth
and a glass of water moved
forward a pace or two.

“It’s wet” she said and so the test
but no force was there again
to prove an unseen presence
or to honour my request.

Again, again, I called again
for need is like a fire
burning in the deep inside
and sparking off desire
but water did what water does
and sat like innocence
in a beaker of transparency
unmoved by the turmoil
raging within unchecked.

But the moment left the table
and a new one walked right in
to make me think of fairies
conjured up from magic hats
and yet, and yet, I know
the new springs from the past
still honoured and revered
within a woman’s heart.

A glass of water, glass of wine,
and it’s like time’s gone around
to join again the old to new
and make me love again!

Bluesy!!  How lovely to see you here!  I have thought of you so often during your absence and sincerely hope you are going to honour us again with your superb poetry.  How the years have flown and yet it seems that Bianca was just yesterday.  It is through you that I'm here today still writing, still dreaming, but knowing a lot more than I did then.

I hope you are well and have been well during your absence from pip.

Helen (and how lovely of you to remember "Lady Sunday".  I haven't thought of myself as that for many years but certainly haven't forgotten.

interesting 'write!'

I am especially fond of:

"need is like a fire
burning in the deep inside
and sparking off desire..."

and the ending!:

"A glass of water, glass of wine,
and it’s like time’s gone around
to join again the old to new
and make me love again"

applause for this fine 'penning!'

Once again you unveil your beautiful mind
so charmingly, dear Helen!

There is the longing, so elegantly woven in.

Love.
