Lumpy oatmeal makes me crazy!

0 posted 2008-03-09 05:44 AM

I tasted a sliver of you in tonight’s night,
as if a larger piece would be too sweet
or too much to handle in one sitting.
Like baubles we hung, suspended,
dangling before each other, stars
lighting passion in eyes unclouded
by, what could be oppressive, darkness.

Yet, blackness wove with muted strands
of the Milky Way, paving a path beyond
all that once was familiar, leading
us to meteor-strewn dance floors,
heated by a sliver of you tonight.
While occasionally, a star flew backwards
to atmospheres that no longer breathed
enough air to sustain our mutual fragility.

Like mobiles clinging trustingly to a breeze,
we shivered into a motion of eternal desire.

Alison, this is stunning. The visuals it conjures up are ethereal, I have read it over & over and it has the same effect, it will be going in the file for future reading, thanks for posting...John

Alison,

This is a well organized poem.

The last two lines wrap it up well.
