In the cool dawn of the rain forest
I walk by the sea along a sinewy trail
winding through cedar and arbutus;
the morning sun comes up
over the horizon’s curvature;
waves clap their delight
in rocky crevices deep below
as gulls cry upon the wind.

My mind wanders and I think:
will the people of Earth
ever learn the real nature
of what they call “money”?
Will they come to understand
before it destroys them
and their so pretty planet?

As if the very stones spoke
I hear this thought in my head:
“As long as there is a system
that creates poor and rich
there will always be a currency,
some kind of measure,
by which levels of injustice
may be factored with profitability.
Such is always a necessity
in any unjust society.”

WindWalker,

I've walked the shores of the Great Northweat when my half Japanese family lived there.  I'll never forget my 5 year-old grand son showing me about.  It a beautiful place.

As far as money goes, it's an innocent bystander.  It's its unwise, selfish, and greedy use that creates the problem.

Bobby

Yes, decent questions with clear answers but nobody cares to ask. Beautiful poem on reality.

For food the birds don't have to pay
but then again; nor do they pray.

Much to ponder!  Once in a system, how does one improve it?   No pondering about the value of nature, though.  It has immeasurable value.  Another poem to file on my shelf.  I enjoy your writing very much.

a grand-fine mix of wonderful (Nature) imagery and pointedly effective social commentary!

The gap between the ever-fewer 'haves' and the always-increasing 'have nots' is reaching
chasmic proportions even amid the 'economic caste system' of this corporate mediocracy
(that once was democracy)...

v. serious, long-sustained applause!
