Freedom of speech is under certain obligations.
But the complications,
Involving the certain superstitions.
That the government says we have the right to speak.
They enforce that with a hand that's weak.
It's like they break the bald eagle of liberty's beak.
I can't even talk about religion in class.
What is this, freedom of speech my @$$.
I'm not writing this for myself or my beliefs.
I'm writing this for other's people relief.
That somebody has spoken out and fought.
but they brought,
Black tinted vans at my doorstep.
You better believe that I got my hands and my two step.
I will fight for the right of liberty.
So I can say whatever I want freely.
Without the government listening with an open ear.
Without that constant state of fear.

Freedom of speech is one of our greats!  It's a tricky one, because we are forced in a world of political correctness.  Too much political correctness causes limited communication. Yet, we need to have the ability to voice our opinions...  To do this responsibly seems more difficult every day, as we don't want to hurt feelings, but we want to stand up for our beliefs.  I enjoyed your poem immensely and am tucking it away in my library. I admire people who say what they think in a firm but courteous  manner.

Nice job.

Nice thoughts...it is usually us that limit our freedom of speech by not wanting to be different or called on something we say...for example if I were to say that I was pro-life others that are pro-choice would want to challenge my beliefs and vice-versa...James

XTr3m3sT,

The only restrictions on freedom of speech are that you may not libel anyone, and you may not incite to riot.

Freedom of Speech in the U. S. is unique in the world.  It is enforced by law.

Try Russia, or any other country in the world.

I think the obsession with politcal correctness is taking away much of our freedom of speech. I enjoyed your thoughts.

Ida,

An "obsession" is not a law.  You can degrade any person, or group you want.  Of course, they may punch you in the nose if you do.  Then they go to jail.
