     The Reckoning

In that infinite, inviolate
  space
between our fleeting fears
and sedulous dreams,
when the chevalier moon
wears an ebony cloak
of  limpid, tremulous stars
and  wandering hours,
to deftly orchestrate
the dappling dance
of bare-oak shadows,
resplendent snow,
and opalescent moonlight,
so few shall ever truly ‘see’…
In such a winter-mountain
  forest,
one weighs with heavy heart
the nature of our ‘worth’
against 4 million years
of damage we have done!

Oh, Bruce, that is gorgeous imagery!
I love the thought of 'tremulous stars'!

Secondhanddreampoet,

This is very deftly written.

Who will be weighing "our" worth--and who is this "our"?

"Sedulous dreams"...  I like the sound of that when it's spoken, and now that I've had the chance to look up the meaning of the word sedulous, I like it even more! Especially as you've placed it in this context:

"In that infinite, inviolate
  space
between our fleeting fears
and sedulous dreams,"

The content of this write is well expressed.

You have always been at the top of the heap of PiP poets, as far as I am concerned.  Beautiful writing.
