Love Lullabies
by Linda L. Dowd

I listen to love lullabies,
carried gently on a jasmine breeze.
Their whisperings of a forever spring,
sing softly thru’ swaying trees
As willows bend in blowing wind,
I sway with graceful motions,
With a trusting soul, as spirit bells toll,
I sense all of love’s emotions.
As spirit calls your name on breeze,
the whisperings bring me bliss.
~ For you'll be mine to far reaches of time,
from the moment of our first kiss.
Honour me, as I will you,
speak forever from a faithful heart.
Hold dear our love, and keep it pure,
lest we ever be torn apart.
I listen to love lullabies,
carried gently on a jasmine breeze.
Their whisperings of a forever spring,
sing softly thru' swaying trees.

~

Love is the unifying force which integrates
one’s soul with that of another.
~ Linda L. Dowd

Sweet Angelo Terrestre, this is so soothing to the heart. Wonderful words, dear Linda!
And after this read I can go to sleep and dream nice dreams.

Linda....

I know what I just said
Must have you scratching your head
And my reply must seem quite absurd

But truth be told, your post was poetic gold
And I was simply lost for words ..

No rush, I was saving the vocal until tomorrow anyway because it would get trapped in the corridor tonight & keep me awake...the words were very soothing & I shall now retire for the evening....

John ~

I always hold my breath when I post one of these recorded poems because it is so easy to screw it up. You have dot each "i" and cross each "t" ~ so to speak!

Well I finally managed to get it write ~ I mean "right"! I hope that you will be able to hear the recording now. The music is so beautiful.

Loving hug,

Gosh, my heart was beating so fast as I was trying to figure out where I went wrong. I'm not a computer genius and I fly by the seat of my panties!

I'm so pleased that you were able to hear the recording ~ and that you liked it!

Love to you, dear 'Lady',

I can only re iterate what I said in my 2nd post...you struck Gold M'Dear....fantastic just doe's not cut it. When I listened to it the 1st time, I was thinking them blue willow pattern plates? The 2nd time I closed my eyes and envisioned Shaolin Monks high up in the Tibetan mountains, I swear I could almost smell the jasmine & hear the bells....Thanks for working it out, I shall sleep soundly tonight....G'night  John

You've found that listening to your real voice brings out your muse's voice...and that is the best gift of all.

Oh, how I would love to have you at our Open Mic nights, not to mention our reading groups!

Never, EVER, get laryngitis!!!!

Loved the whole package (again). Do you write to the music or vice versa? Loved the music (I'm bit of a sucker for Japanese music) The whole thing puts me in mind of 'Summer Breeze' by the Isley Brothers, I now have to play it.

John ~

I'm so happy that you got to listen to the recording and that the soothing Japanese got you ready for beddy-byes.

~ Oooo, that's lovely ~ and very poetic. Next time that I listen to it, I am going to myself in the Himalayas, as well. ~ Envisioning what you are envisioning.

Perhaps our spiritual paths will cross there!

Thank you for that exceptionally nice comment.

Love to you, my friend!

Hello, and smiles across the miles.

To answer your question, I do it both ways. Sometimes I write to the music and at others I search out music for my words. Then there are times when I will modify words of a previously written poem to fit into music that I am particularly fond of. I have now posted 18 of these voice and music recordings, and each one was a labour of love and a joyful experience. I would love it if more poets would do likewise. A few years back, I had posted a few poems with my voice, but it was ARH who inspired me to add music to a recording. She has done a couple of very lovely ones.

Thanks for adding to my morning smile, Simon!

Loving hug,

Linda

I just did another recording. The first time around, I hadn't timed my reading with the music as well as I would have liked. I also moved the mike further away so that my breathing wasn't as heavy! lol

Earth Angel,

This is very good writing.

My oldest daughter lives in Japan with her family.

She looks gorgeous, tall, and slender in her Kimono.

Roniece, it really pleases me that you have been enjoying my recorded poems with music. I just now completed two more. One is with haunting native Indian drums and the other is with lilting Celtic music.

As always, it was nice to hear from you!

Arctic Wind ~

Thanks, AW! I enjoy reciting my poetry. I belong to a local poetry group and it is a wonderful experience to hear the poets reciting their own words. I wish more pipsters would do likewise.
