By attacking the factual, purposely lacking the attributes that the rest of us capture,
You'll casually latch onto the magical aspects believed by ill informed Baptists,
Suckers prepare for the rapture, preachers condemning the blasphemous,
While the truth is evading us, we can never go back to it,
Spreading like angels and apples, negative energy's cancerous,
We watch it grow like a tumor and we sit, smile and clap at it,
Linear thought rendered harmless when the images flash quick,
Taking pride in ineptitude, we laugh at the circuses,
While the teachers among us are stoned like rapists and murderers.

Thank you, again.  Too kind.  That's it for now, those are the only two poems I have ever written, but if another one come to me I'll post it here.

Outstanding.
Too bad it's all true, too.
I am really looking forward to more of your enlightened words. It is a joy to read thoughts that venture beyond pablum and syrup.

About the title..I say, confused.

A warm welcome to this wonderful land of PIP.

Peter griffin,

This is pretty good--how’s about naming it "Preparing for the Rapture".

BTW, there are more ways than one to "get stoned".  I've heard some of them are fun.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the kind words.  I just want to be clear that "suckers prepare for..." is not meant to tell people that they should prepare for the rapture.  It's meant to tell who the suckers are.  I'm not sure if that came through or not.

And Robert... many ways, but few good ones.

Peter griffin,

That came through loud and clear.

"Preparing for the Rapture" was meant to be a sarcastic title.  Perhaps that didn’t come through to you.  Or perhaps you didn’t want a sarcastic title, in which case I am sorry if I offended you. Please accept my apologies.

Welcome to the gang.

Gotcha.  No problem, I always second guess everyting and am unsure if it comes through clear.

powerful; effective (and sadly true) 'write!'

Having been one, I am particularly fond of the last line
[I've retained the 'stones' as keepsakes in memory of
all that has been lost to the "Runaway American Dream"]

v. serious applause for this 'penning!'

At first I didn't understand this, then I thought that I did, but now I have no idea...so I would recommend titling this "Al Gore"...James
