Rain

Yesterday brought rain.
Today it still comes
and barefoot , umbrella above,
i walk the sidewalk, going down the street,
maybe up – don’t know.
Don’t care – much,
for anything, but
the water between my toes,
beneath my feet  - and so it goes,
up the street, or maybe down –
nobody cares.
Rain –
great falling sheets
splashing my legs, soaking my jeans,
but I don’t care – much,
for anything, but
not going home to that empty place,
that house we shared.
Now don’t.
Yesterday, today – tomorrow –
barefoot, umbrella above,
walking the sidewalk, up,
maybe down – who cares –
long as it away
from that empty place, that house
we shared.
Now don’t, anymore.
Rain,
under cloudless skies,
and sun.

When I see your name, I always know I'm in for a read that will encompass my thoughts.  Your poetry is so real.  I'm glad to know it is not about you.  This is very touching.

I'm so glad it's not about you.  A most touching and emotive write and one I can relate to although not quite for the same reason.  I know about "avoidance" though.
