.

Corridors of the Mind

Restlessly pacing
The corridors of my mind
Helplessly, hopelessly
Trying to find

Answers to questions
Running around in my head
Tormenting & teasing
Whilst I lay in bed

Well I've been down this road before
Hunting and searching for the hidden door
Assuming I should make this discovery
How can I gain entrance with out the key?

Then once inside would I find
The solution to the problems that torture my mind?
When sleep finally comes it offers only temporary release
Is there no such thing as inner peace?

Dear John, good. A heart wrenching poem.

Close the door of imagination
Open the window of reality
the air would be calm in your mind.

You are well loved and everyone wishes you happy...which is the base of inner peace.

oh, How lucky you are!!
If I could press all the happiness in one day, I just want to live that day....Is this philosophical?

John, that was some inspiration that Firestorm's poem provided! Gosh, I found myself in your head ~ and it was not a fun place to be!

Great write! Very descriptive! ~ Perhaps too descriptive! I now need an aspirin ~ or a strong sleeping pill!

I liked Auntie Tom's responses, as well.

Love 'n healing hugs,
Linda

Dear effjayel

Open your heart
And release your mind
If peace and contentment
You would find.
The world curls around you
To grasp and taste.
To ignore and discount it
Would be pure waste.

Love, Joyce

To avoid any confusion let me clarify. This write was sparked by the line
quote:
The wind rips through the corridors of my mind
I have a very active mind & only need 4 to 5 hours sleep a night. I normally go to bed around 11pm & seem to spend forever trying to resolve niggling issues etc. If I do not, when I awake (usually around 4am) I begin again. I was simply trying to describe that process. Part of the whirlpools in my head are jumbles of words or phrases that are knocked into shape & end up being posted on here. I guess that maybe in my subconscious, these words were lying around and Firestorm broght them to the fore. Having thought about it, I have been listening to CSN a lot lately & one of the titles of a track of theirs is "Helplessly Hoping " so maybe that song + this trigger = the above post? Who knows, one thing is for sure, I sure ain't gonna lose any sleep over it !

Most evenings I end up lying in my bed
Pacing up & down the corridors in my head.
My mind might be burning up
Like its in a sauna
And around every corner, there's usually another corner
Or a group of thoughts that see it as their mission
Yo pummel me into submission.
And in all this time,
If I happen to see a light, I run
And hope It doesn't turn out to be
The sun.

Thank you for "seeing" how at times the mind just opens floodgates we cannot control and thoughts that just tumble and jumble around-As a person that goes on little sleep, my mind is always going.....Hope all is well with you

Seems like all of us poets are insomniacs, John. At least it produces good poetry. Hope you are doing well.

Ida, I am at my most productive in the wee small hours, I am doing real good, thanks for asking & replying...hope you don’t get too much rain today !  John
