Who cares?

I have reached the age of privilege
And I like it here a lot.
If I don't do what I oughta
I can say, "I plumb forgot."

If seven AM is too early,
I can stay awhile in bed.
Don't need to do what I don't want to,
Can do what I want instead.

Being younger wasn't always
What it was cracked up to be,
Not so great as I remember,
It's just my bad memory.

I don't worry about birthdays
Since they roll around so fast.
The only reason now to note them,
An excuse to have a blast.

Nothing much can happen to me
That I haven't faced before,
So I welcome the tomorrows
And adventures yet in store.

Good attitude, Joyce. Getting to sleep in when you're  used to getting up for work everyday at 5:30 almost makes getting old worth while.

Dear Joyce, how nice that you are posting and I love it! We just discussed today in the office the advantages of retirement with one who is ready to go. You picked out great ones! In general people are afraid of retiring, even though they love the ideas of being "free" and of "who cares?".
Artists like you certainly know what to do in the free time!

Love and hugs.

Joyce Johnson,

You write beautifully, and it is a pleasure to read you.

Being retired, I enjoyed this immensely.  Keep up the good work.

Thanks everyone.  You are so kind.

This world is still the wonder
That it was when I was young.
There are poems as yet unwritten.
And songs waiting to be sung.
Love, Joyce

And the cliff waits for your soft fingers
The sky waits for your elegant dive
The ring waits for your experienced arms
The glider waits for your joyful ride
The Mississippi soft its bed for you to float
The Mt.Rushmore lowered it faces for you to climb
And put on your dancing shoes and matching dress
The Hollywood has the biggest stage for you to try.

Live, and to live a full-blooming life.
